Description

Corner Cottage is a 17th-century cottage, raised in the 18th century, with a 19th-century roof renewal. It is constructed of coursed ironstone with a tile roof, brick ridge stacks, and end stacks. The building follows a three-unit lobby-entry plan and has two storeys and an attic, displaying a two-window front. The front, facing the garden, features a wide, old plank door. The windows are irregular, comprised of old two and three-light casements, and fixed-light windows with glazing bars. All windows have old painted wood lintels. A 20th-century single-storey addition has been built to the front on the left. The right return side of the cottage, facing the road, has old three-light casements and a small attic window. The rear of the cottage, also facing the road, has the ground floor projecting for most of its length; a slight projection on the left has a small window. There are two casements at the rear, the right one with leaded lights. Shutters are present. A small first-floor window is also located at the rear. Internally, the cottage contains an open fireplace, a broad stop-chamfered bressumer, and ceiling beams.
