Description

Top House Farmhouse is a mid-to-late 18th-century farmhouse with alterations from the 19th century; a rear wing is likely from the 19th century. Constructed of Flemish bond brick with a plain brick cornice, the farmhouse has an old tile roof and brick ridge and right-end stacks. It follows an L-shaped plan, with a wing extending to the rear. The two-storey, five-window front exhibits regular spacing. The central door is a 19th-century four-panelled door with an overlight containing margin bars. It is framed by narrow, fluted wooden pilasters and an altered, shallow-panelled hood supported by simple brackets. Late 19th- or early 20th-century sash windows are set within the original openings, featuring gauged brick flat arches and stone sills. Windows in the fourth and fifth bays are positioned at a slightly higher level. The rear elevation is irregular. The interior has not been inspected.
