Description
Thatched Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, which was largely rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. The right corner and return side are timber framed, with infill and the remainder constructed from whitewashed brick. It features a thatched roof with brick stacks at the left end and the ridge. The cottage has a three-unit plan with an outshut at the rear, and it is one storey with an attic, presenting a two-window range. There is a plank door located between the first and second bays. The ground floor includes three fixed three-light windows with glazing bars, and both the door and the first and second bays have brick cambered arches. The swept dormers contain a two-light casement with many glazing bars on the left and an older three-light casement in the centre. Inside, there are old back-to-back fireplaces that feature 19th-century cast iron ranges, run-out chamfered beams, and a two-panelled door with H-L hinges.
