Description

Woodcroft is a house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, with a possible later addition to the right-hand side and later 19th-century alterations. 20th-century additions extend to the rear. The house is constructed of Flemish bond brick, featuring dog-tooth cornices. It has plain-tile roofs and brick end stacks. The layout is a T-shape, with a wing extending to the rear. The main range is three storeys high with a three-window front. The right-hand range is two storeys high with a two-window front. The main entrance has a flush six-panelled door with an overlight containing glazing bars, sheltered by a late 19th-century pitched tile hood with shaped bargeboards and chamfered brackets. A one-light window sits to the left of the door. The ground and first floors of the main range have 19th-century wood mullioned and transomed three-light and central two-light windows. The second floor has 19th-century two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The right-hand range has a blocked doorway and a 19th or 20th-century three-light mullioned and transomed window to the left, alongside a semi-circular window to the right. The first floor of the right-hand range has 20th-century cross-windows. All window and door openings are topped with brick segmental arches. The interior remains unexamined. The building is included on the list for its group value, contributing to the wider historical context of the area.
