Description

The Beeches is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick, featuring a string course and a moulded brick cornice. The roof is hipped and covered in old tiles, with brick ridge stacks, some of which have been rebuilt. The house follows a central-staircase plan and has two storeys and an attic, presenting a three-window front symmetrically arranged. A hall-glazed six-panelled door, alongside a fanlight, is recessed within a painted wooden doorcase, which includes pilaster strips and an open pediment hood supported by fluted shaped brackets. The 19th-century four-pane sash windows have moulded frames and are set within gauged brick flat arches, each decorated with a painted keystone. Later 19th-century dormers have two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars and shaped, pierced bargeboards. A late 20th-century single-storey addition, built in a matching style, is located on the left-hand side. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
