Description

The Shoulder of Mutton Public House is a public house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of roughcast brick with a string course band on the main range. The left range features a timber-framed gable. The building has old tile roofs, with the main range exhibiting a gable parapet supported by kneelers, along with brick ridge and right end stacks. The structure is L-shaped, with a wing extending to the rear on the left side.

It stands two storeys tall and has a four-window range, although the third bay has been blocked. A 20th-century door is located between the first and second bays. The ground floor features 19th and 20th-century cross windows with horizontal glazing bars. All openings are topped with painted stone flat arches that include keystones. The first floor has 20th-century cross windows. The lower left range has an altered 19th-century three-light casement window with a painted cambered arch and keystone, and a 20th-century three-light casement window above it. At the rear, there is a further single-storey wing, likely a former outbuilding, made of timber framing with brick infill, along with 19th and 20th-century brick and some stone, topped with a corrugated iron roof.
