Description

Castle Farmhouse is a farmhouse of two distinct ranges, the right range dating to the late 16th or early 17th century, and the left wing built in the mid 19th century. The older right range is constructed of regular coursed limestone with decorative bands of ironstone. It has a tile roof with coped gable parapets, kneelers, and a stone ridge stack. The 19th-century wing is of roughcast brick with a dentil cornice. It has a hipped tile roof and rendered ridge and end stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the cross wing on the left.

The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window range to the front of the right range. The ground floor of the right range features three-light casements with glazing bars in altered openings. The upper floors have three-light, moulded mullioned windows. A small single-light window is present on the first floor to the right. The attic has a large central dormer with a decorative cornice above the window, and a painted sundial. The left wing has four-pane sashes, set within moulded, rendered flat arches with keyblocks. The left return side has a four-window range, including two 20th-century French windows and a canted bay on the right. A rendered, lean-to addition in the angle has a slate roof. A half-glazed door is located in the right return side. The interior is said to feature chamfered ceiling beams.
