Description
The Poplars is a house located on Granborough Church Road, dating from the mid-18th century but with earlier origins and some alterations from the 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork, a string course, and a dentil cornice, with a plinth on the left side and part of the left return made of regularly coursed sandstone. The return sides and wing are rendered and color-washed. The roof is covered with old tiles, some of which have been patched in the 20th century, and has stone-coped gable parapets with kneelers, along with old and 20th-century brick ridge stacks. The building is L-shaped, with a wing extending to the rear on the right side. A mid to late 19th-century open-fronted brick porch features shaped bargeboards. The entrance includes a chamfered half-glazed five-panelled door, with a small window above that has cross glazing. The 19th-century three-light casements have horizontal glazing bars, and the ground floor openings are topped with brick segmental arches. The interior has not been inspected.
