Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with an early 18th-century range on the left and 19th-century additions at the rear. The right range is constructed of regularly coursed limestone with some lias, while the 18th-century range features Flemish bond brick with limestone dressings. The roofs are covered with old tiles, and the 18th-century range has a coped parapet and brick end stacks. The building has an irregular T-plan with a wing at the rear.
The 16th-century range is two storeys high with an attic and originally had two windows, though it now has one. The ground floor includes a large 20th-century five-light wood mullioned and transomed window. On the first floor, there are remnants of moulded mullioned windows, with a blocked single light on the left and a 20th-century casement inserted into a two-light window on the right. A 19th-century roof dormer features a two-light casement with glazing bars.
The 18th-century range is three storeys tall and has three windows. It displays rusticated alternating quoins, string courses, and a moulded cornice. The moulded architraves have largely been renewed in cement. The front is symmetrical, featuring a 20th-century panelled door with an overlight that has glazing bars. The architrave includes a keyblock and a segmental pediment. The sashes, replaced in 1970, have similar architraves but lack the pediment. The cornice breaks forward above the keyblocks on the second floor. The left return side consists of four bays, with windows that have brick flat arches and keyblocks; the third bay is blocked on the first floor. The second floor has rendered flat arches, with the first and second bays blocked.
The rear of the building is irregular. Inside, the entrance hall features a corner cupboard with a keyed round-arched panelled door and a dentil cornice. There are fielded six-panelled doors, and an open well staircase with turned balusters.
