Description

This ice house, located 5 meters southeast of The Quarry House, dates from the late 18th century. It is built from coursed and square sandstone. The structure features a single, straight flight of steps leading to a chamber that has a tunnel-vaulted roof supported by four ribs. Although no drain is visible, the floor of the chamber slopes toward the rear wall. The ice house was constructed next to the embarked turnpike road, which it may have been built around the same time as.
