Description
The pillory and whipping post, located immediately south of numbers 1 and 3 on Church Hill in Coleshill, is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the early 19th century. Made of oak, the post stands approximately 14 feet high and features a turned acorn finial at the top. It includes a standing platform at mid-height and a transom near the top with holes for the heads and hands of two individuals. Near the bottom of the post, there are shackles for whipping. This structure originally had a pair of stocks and was formerly situated in front of the Market Hall, which was located in the middle of the road and demolished in 1865.
