Description
The Swan Hotel is an inn dating from the early 18th century. It is built of plastered red brick and features a plain tile roof with stone coped verges that are capped at the corners by ball finials. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a first-floor band and rusticated quoins of unequal length that break through an oversailing eaves cornice, which is supported by large console brackets and has an egg and dart moulded band below. The façade consists of seven bays with 20-pane glazing bar sash windows, although the ground floor windows have been replaced in the 20th century. There are five attic dormers with glazing bar casements and hipped roofs. A large central carriage entrance with a moulded surround now serves as the main entrance to the hotel.
