Description
Hilton House, now converted into flats, is a late 18th-century house that forms part of a row on Long Street in Atherstone. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with rendered dressings. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range. The front facade features a regular arrangement with a moulded cornice.
The first bay includes a half-glazed panelled door with a fanlight and panelled reveals, while the left reveal is part-glazed. The doorcase is adorned with Doric pilasters, paterae, and an open pediment. The third bay contains a six-panelled door with a fanlight set within a brick round arch. The ground and first floors showcase break-front tripartite sashes flanked by thin Doric half-columns and pilasters. The sashes on the second floor are six-pane and feature rusticated rendered flat arches with triple keyblocks. Additionally, the first floor has a sill course.
The attached cast iron railings are notable for their three urn finials and curved ends. The interior has not been inspected.
