Description

The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage, now converted into six flats, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of English bond brick with moulded rendered dressings and features plain-tile roofs with ornamented bargeboards. The building has brick ridges and external stacks with diagonally-set square shafts and cornices. It has an irregular double-depth plan and is designed in a Tudor style, comprising two storeys and an attic.

The entrance front, which is positioned at right angles to the road, has a four-window range. On the right, there is a gabled wing with an external stack that has two shafts. The central two-window range includes a gabled porch set in the angle, with a doorway that features a chamfered outer Tudor arch and an inner arch supported by corbels. Inside, there is a nine-panelled Tudor-arched door with a chamfered surround. To the left of the entrance, there are two small windows.

The building is adorned with chamfered and moulded mullioned windows throughout, which have painted lattice glazing and margin bars. Most of these windows also include transoms and hood moulds. The central range contains three-light windows, each topped with small gables. The gabled left range features two single-light windows on the ground floor, a cross-window above, and a blind slit window in the gable. Beyond this, a lower range has blind slit windows on the ground floor and a three-light window with a gable above.

On the right return side facing the garden, there is a gabled wing that includes a two-storey five-light canted bay and a two-light mullioned attic window. The main range has three-light windows with a gable to the left and one-light windows to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
