Description

The former Quaker Meeting House, now serving as a Sunday school for the Methodist Chapel, dates from around 1768. It is located to the north of the Methodist Chapel, which was built in 1895 and is not included in this listing. The building is constructed of red and blue brick in English bond and features a clay plain tile roof with gabled ends and a brick dentil eaves course. There is a truncated brick stack at the north gable end.

The meeting house has a single-cell rectangular plan, with an entrance located at the center of the longer west side and a pulpit at the north end. Attached to the north end are the remains of a small cottage or manse, which includes a fireplace in the corner. The exterior is a single storey with a symmetrical three-bay front, featuring two 2-light mullion-transom windows in original openings, each with cambered brick arches, and a central doorway with a similar arch, rectangular overlight, and a plank door. There are two similar windows at the rear with glazing bars. At the north end, the small single-storey cottage has a pitched roof that has been reduced to a lean-to.

Inside, the building has two king-post roof trusses, which are ceiled at mid-height.
