Description
The building is a combined school and school house, dating from the early 19th century with a mid-19th century addition. It features an ashlar front and red brick construction, with rusticated quoins and voussoirs. The roofs are made of stone slate and banded tiles, with a verge parapet on the stone section and corniced stone stacks at both ends and the center. The structure is two storeys high. There is a first-floor cill band and four windows with glazing bar casements; the right-hand window belongs to the school master's house and has small panes. The school itself has two left-hand windows that create the appearance of a two-storey building, although it is actually one storey high. This effect is enhanced by the cill band that divides the otherwise full-height windows, which have larger panes. The two parts of the building are separated by a straight joint but are unified by the roof and a central gabled bellcote at the eaves.
