Description
The farmhouse dates to the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is built of coursed rubble with dressed stone quoins. The roof is covered in blue machine tiles, with verge parapets, moulded copings, and shaped, corbelled kneelers on the left side. A brick-capped stone stack is located at the right end, and a large side stack is set back to the left. The building follows an ‘H’ plan, with one limb extended. It is two storeys high, featuring projecting gables of varying depth, connected by a short central link. Windows include 2- and 3-light casements; the first floor left-hand windows have chamfered mullions, while the ground floor windows of the link have ovolo mullions. The left-hand gable has cavetto moulded drips extending over both floors, returning at the ends. The 2-bay right-hand gabled wing has a central range of windows and a plain boarded door set in an angle against the link. The right-hand wing may be a reconstruction, incorporating some original stonework. Inside, a through passage runs from the door of the right wing, which may not represent the original layout as all finishes appear to date to the 19th century. A large parlour is located behind the left-hand gable, featuring chamfered beams.
