Description
Stonelowe Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with restoration dated 1866 and late 19th-century additions. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a tiled roof with verge parapets and side and end stacks. The entrance front is divided into two parts, with the 17th-century section on the right, which has two flush gables set slightly apart and a crenellated parapet across the valley. There are five windows: two 3-light stone chamfer mullions in the left-hand gable and one in the link, along with two single-light windows set lower in the right gable. The ground floor includes a chamfer mullioned window with five, two, and two lights in the left gable, featuring two king mullions, while the right gable has a blind window on the second floor and a projecting single-storey monopitch wellhouse to the left. The entrance is slightly left of centre, featuring a 20th-century door made from re-used floorboards from the attic, topped with a corbelled steeply-pitched pediment that has "Restored by Edith Piddock 1866" inscribed in the tympanum. A massive side stack is set back on the right side, with a ridged link to the main axis and three diagonally-set flues. To the left side, there is a two-storey mid-19th-century wing that is set back, featuring two ranges of 2-light chamfer mullioned windows.
