Description
Dunwood House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which has been restored and altered in the mid-19th century. It is built from coursed and dressed rubble with a machine tile roof, featuring verge parapets on shaped kneelers and end stacks. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan with a lower range at the rear and consists of two storeys and an attic.
The front elevation has a raised string at the first-floor level and features three restored, labelled chamfer mullion casement windows. The outer windows have four lights, while the central window has two lights. To the left, there is a late 19th-century single-storey lean-to bay window with four lights and a single light to the left of the central entrance. The house also has two-light gabled dormers with pronounced kneelers. The entrance features a six-panelled door with glazed top panels, set within a small late 19th-century gabled porch.
At the rear, there is a full-height stair window with three transoms. Inside, the farmhouse retains 17th-century timbers and a fireplace in the wing attached to the rear, along with a plain chamfered spine beam that has run-out stops.
