Description
Farley Hall is a large house that originated in the 17th century, with remodelling done in the late 18th century and mid-19th century. It features a timber frame on a stone plinth, which is now plastered, and has imitation timber framing on the first floor. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are plastered ridge stacks along with an integral end stack. The house is aligned to face southwest, with later extensions added to the rear.
The main house consists of two storeys and an attic on the left, with a two-storey single-bay wing on the right. The main section has three gabled bays and tripartite windows that contain glazing bar sashes. The left and right windows are part of two-storey canted bay windows, while the central entrance features a glazed door within a lean-to porch. The wing has a ground-floor bay window and a tripartite window on the first floor, both also with glazing bar sashes.
Attached to the right is a 27-metre long ashlar wall that ends in a billiard room, which is dated 1866. The billiard room has a plain tile roof with coped verges and an ashlar stack. It is aligned northeast/southwest and has a canted southwest end. This single-storey structure features three bays on the canted front, with the central bay gabled. It includes a central two-light window and single-light windows on either side, all with square heads and stylized Gothic tracery. There is a set-back projection on the left with a door that has a semi-circular fanlight and panelled spandrels.
The greenhouse is semi-circular with a domed top and an ashlar plinth. It has a central two-leaf door that is approached by two steps and flanked by ball finials on short pedestals.
