Description
Parkhouse Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone later alterations. It is constructed from ashlar stone featuring herringbone tooling and has a plain tile roof with coped verges on shaped kneelers. The farmhouse includes an ashlar ridge stack and an integral end stack, the latter of which has cylindrical shafts. The building has a lobby-entry plan and consists of a three-cell range aligned east-west, facing south, with a single-cell extension at the eastern end.
The structure is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic, featuring a storey band and a cyma recta moulded eaves band on the main house to the left. The facade consists of three bays on the left and an extension on the right, with three-light chamfer mullioned windows. There is a two-storey break in the left-hand bay, and a door located to the left of centre has a raised and moulded surround with a raised keystone. The left gable features a two-light chamfer mullioned attic window.
At the rear, the main house is on the right with the extension to the left. The main house has three three-light chamfer mullioned windows with rebated surrounds and straight hood moulds on the ground floor, and two-light chamfer mullioned windows on the first floor, with one window to the left of centre at a slightly lower level, possibly illuminating the stairs.
Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered and stopped ceiling beams and a notable 17th-century staircase with turned balusters.
