Description
The hay barn, located approximately 30 yards north-west of Teddesley Home Farmhouse, dates back to 1761 and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and features a plain tile roof. The barn has an L-shaped plan, with the main range aligned east-west facing north and a wing projecting from the east end of the north front, aligned north-south.
The north front is a single storey with nine bays, including a projecting gabled wing on the left. It has tall segmental-headed openings, with the central opening serving as a wider carriageway. The right-hand opening and the two openings immediately to the right of the wing are blocked and have inserted openings. Above these, there are four tiers of ventilation loops, and a loft opening is located to the right.
The right-hand return of the wing is two storeys high with two bays, featuring segmental-headed arches. The left-hand arch is blocked, while the right serves as a wider carriageway, with casements on the first floor. The left-hand return of the wing is also two storeys and has three bays with segmental-headed arches. The left and right arches are blocked, and there is a wide central carriageway with a clock above, surmounted by a bell, and blocked first-floor windows on either side. Teddesley Home Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
