Description
The former stable block to Teddesley Hall is a late 18th-century building. It is constructed of red brick with an ashlar plinth and dressings, topped with a hipped plain tile roof and featuring brick lateral external stacks. The stable block consists of four ranges that enclose a rectangular courtyard, with entrances located on the south-east and north-east sides.
The south-west front is two storeys high with coved eaves and features a symmetrical arrangement of 2:3:2 bays. It has a central pedimented break, with windows that have moulded architraves, some of which still retain their glazing bar sashes. There is a central false door with a Gibbs surround and pediment.
The north-west front also rises to two storeys with coved eaves and mirrors the 2:3:2 bay arrangement, again featuring a central pedimented break. This side includes casements, glazing bar sashes, and false glazing bar sashes, all with gauged heads.
On the south-east front, the building is two storeys tall and has coved eaves, displaying a total of seven bays. The windows here have gauged heads, with some retaining glazing bar sashes. A central full-height carriage arch features a semi-circular arch, plain pilasters, and a raised key. There are six-panelled doors to the left and right of the carriage arch, with the left door having a gauged head, and a doorway to the right with a semi-circular arch.
Teddesley Hall, to which this stable block was associated, has since been demolished.
