Description
The Meat House is a house that has been converted for commercial use. It dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and features a timber frame, with parts rebuilt in brick and a sandstone plinth. The roof is covered with clay tiles, and there are brick stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan, with a lobby entry, a main range of about four bays, and a two-bay crosswing.
The structure has two storeys. The left half of the main range is obscured by an adjacent building, which is not included in the listing. The gabled crosswing on the right has a close-studded ground floor, small square panels up to collar level, and tension braces. The windows are casements, and there is a door to the right of the main range, located directly in front of the stack, which features a 20th-century porch.
