Description

The former veterinary surgery, dating from the early 19th century, is located adjoining numbers 6 and 8 on Queen Street in Newcastle under Lyme. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building has a square plan and is two stories high, with a single bay that includes blind windows with stone sills and lintels on the street front. On the north side, there is a built-in gate post and a plaque inscribed "Veterinary Infirmary." A single segmentally arched window on the north side has a stone lintel and iron glazing bars. The interior showcases fireproof iron construction, including an iron roof, and a stack has been reinstated on the southern wall.
