Description
Fir Tree Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century and was remodeled around 1880 by Robert Griffiths for Thomas Fletcher Twemlow as part of a development on the Betley estate. The cottage has undergone some alterations and additions in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with a single gable and ridge coped brick stacks. The eaves are dentillated brick. The windows are mainly 19th-century three-light casements with segmental heads. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays.
On the right side, there is a door that is covered by a late 20th-century porch. Above this door, there is a plain sash window from the 19th century with a segmental head. On the left side, there are two windows on each floor. The rear of the cottage has late 20th-century windows.
The exterior features a chamfered blue brick plinth that used to have railings and extends across the front, returning to the left side. There are a pair of square gate piers made of red and blue brick with pyramidal stone caps, and a similar pier on the left that has been reduced in height.
