Description

Wall House is a house dating to 1761, with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a raised band at the first-floor level and pilaster strips at the angles. The roof is tiled, with corbelled eaves and verge parapets terminating in end stacks. The building has a double range plan and a symmetrical four-window front, disrupted by a further range to the left, which may have been added later. The upper floor has flat-headed dormers over transomed casement windows with gauged brick segmental heads. The additional range to the left has two-light windows of a similar design. A single-storey, flat-roofed porch with a stone cornice and blocking course provides central access, containing a segmental-headed opening with a 20th-century part-glazed double door. Inside, a deep entrance hall leads to a stair hall at the rear via an elliptical arch. The dog-leg staircase on the right has an open string, carved consoles, two turned balusters per tread, a curtail scroll, and a handrail ramped at angles.
