Description
Knowle Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1820. It is constructed of brick with a pebbledash front and stucco dressings, topped with a tile roof and brick end stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and reflects Georgian style, featuring three storeys and a symmetrical three-window range with a projecting ground floor.
The ground floor has a cornice and a top cornice, with stucco quoins. The entrance includes a doorcase with large antae that support a stop-chamfered lintel with weathering, leading to a half-glazed door. The windows have sills, stucco quoins, and wedge lintels. The ground floor windows have 20th-century glazing in tripartite frames, while the first floor features 16-pane sashes flanking a 12-pane sash, and the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The stacks are adorned with moulded brick cornices.
To the left, there is a small single-storey addition with a hipped roof, an end stack, and 20th-century casements. The right side of the building has segmental-headed windows with two-light casements. At the rear, there is a cornice over a two-storey wing with a double gabled roof and a modillioned brick cornice. The rear also has a plain entrance and segmental-headed windows with small-paned casements, along with adjacent windows to the front range, including a 12-pane sash on the first floor. The end of the building features a 20th-century garage.
Inside, there is a stick-baluster dogleg staircase.
