Description
24 and 26 Bore Street are two houses, now used as offices, dating from around 1740. They are constructed of brick with stucco dressings and feature a double-gabled tile roof with a brick stack at each end and another at the rear of the roof ridge. The buildings are designed in the Georgian style and have two storeys with a seven-window range.
The exterior includes a plinth, a first-floor sill band, and a top modillioned timber cornice. There are two entrances with doorcases that have panelled pilaster strips, friezes, and cornices, along with overlights—one of which has glazing bars arranged in a fanlight shape—leading to six flush-panel doors. To the left, there is a carriage entrance with a rubbed brick flat arch over the lintel and paired doors featuring diagonal planking.
On the ground floor, four windows have sills and rubbed brick flat arches above two plate glass horned sashes to the left of the entrances, while two 12-pane sashes are situated to the right. The first floor has similar windows, but only two retain glazing bars, and one window above the left entrance is blind. The attic features three flat-roofed dormers with cornices and 2-, 3-, and 6-light casements. There is a rainwater head with a later downspout. The rear of the building has a brick cornice and similar window arrangements.
Inside, the hall has a fielded-panelled dado, an eight-fielded-panel door, and a stick-baluster staircase.
