Description
Blue Gates Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick that is plastered and lined to resemble ashlar, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring a plastered central stack. The main range consists of two cells arranged in a baffle-entry layout, aligned northwest to southeast and facing southwest, with a single-cell rear wing to the northwest aligned northeast to southwest, and a rear out-shut to the southeast. The building has one storey and a gable-lit attic, with two windows that are 20th-century casements. There is a storey band or continuous dripstone with a rectangular block located at the right corner of the left window, and a central door with a tiled canopy. Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, a short straight staircase with turned balusters, and a large open fireplace in the northwest room. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
