Description

The Hawthorns is a cottage located on Main Street in Tatenhill, dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of red brick and timber framing, topped with a tiled roof. It has an end stack on the left and a ridge stack set in from the right. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has a two-window front. Gabled dormers are set well in from the sides, featuring small-pane 20th-century casements above 20th-century three-sided corbelled oriels. The surviving timber frame consists of seven uprights and three horizontals. To the right, there is a 20th-century gabled porch with glazed double doors, and a single-storey, single-window addition is also present on the right side.
