Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was originally built as a rectory in the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof with verge parapets and end stacks. The building has a double-pile plan and is designed in a rural Baroque style. It stands two stories high with an attic and has a five-window front. The facade includes even rusticated quoins and a moulded cornice that is broken forward over the quoins. The windows are 18-pane glazing bar sashes with moulded stone cills and keystones. The central window is enhanced with a moulded architrave and scrolled consoles on the apron. There are three pedimented dormers set behind the cornice. The central entrance features fluted pilasters that extend to the frieze and cornice, leading into the apron of the window above. The entrance includes a six-panel door and a rectangular overlight with radial glazing bars and an elliptical surround. A single-storey service wing is attached to the north side of the building and has two windows.
