Description

Vaughan's Lane Farmhouse is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations and additions. Originally timber framed, the outer walls have been rebuilt in painted brick, and it features a thatched roof with brick ridge stacks. The building has a 4-cell plan, with a later addition to the south-west bay and an extension at the rear (north-west). It is one storey and has an attic, featuring four windows with segmental heads, except for a square-headed window to the right. The window to the left of centre is large, and there is one dormer to the right of centre with the roof sweeping over it. A segmental-headed door is located to the right of centre, with a blocked door to the left of centre and a vertical joint in the brickwork to the left. There is a 20th-century conservatory to the right. Inside, the central partition wall is timber framed with square panels and short straight braces, and there is a queen strut roof truss above that supports one pair of purlins and a ridge piece.
