Description
This building, known as the house occupied by Mr. Goodwin, is a pair of houses that have been combined into one. It dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. The structure is made of red brick and features a plain tile roof with raised verges. It has both a brick integral end stack and a brick ridge stack.
The house is two storeys high and has a dentilled eaves course. There are five windows, which include glazing bar sashes. The first floor windows on the left and right are 4-pane 19th-century sashes, while the first floor windows left and right of centre are blind. All windows have shaped plaster heads. On the ground floor, there is a bay window to the left, which has a moulded cornice and a flat roof. There are also 19th-century partly glazed doors to the left and right of centre, each with flat hoods supported by console brackets, and these doors are approached by flights of stone steps. The building occupies a significant position in the main thoroughfare.
