Description
The former Mayfield Methodist Chapel, built in 1827, features boundary walls, gate piers, railings, and a gate. This non-conformist chapel is constructed from chisel-dressed ashlar with smooth-faced ashlar sills and porch, topped with a clay tile roof that has coped verges. The building is oriented north-south and faces west, standing two storeys tall with three bays. It has fixed light cross windows with sloping sills, which are vertically divided by cast iron colonette mullions. The porch has side walls that curve towards the front and a flat cornice hood, leading to a six-panelled door.
To the right, there is a single-storey 20th-century lean-to extension made of reconstituted stone, and an early 20th-century extension at the rear. The chapel is enclosed by a dwarf front boundary wall leading to the graveyard, featuring rusticated square section gate piers with pyramidal caps, along with decorated iron railings and a gate.
