The Mill

The Mill, dated 1818, is a former steam mill located on a disused canalside in Wrockwardine Wood, Oakengates. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with stone coped gable ends that have shaped kneelers and brick dentil eaves. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has six bays. The windows are made of cast iron frames with small panes set in segmental-headed openings that have stone cills, although the right-hand window is blocked. There are doors on the ground and first floors to the left of the center. A datestone is visible in the gable end. An addition to the rear, built in 1891, is four storeys tall and also made of brick. There are early 19th century twin gabled wings that are two storeys high on the end wall, featuring a segmental-headed carriageway, one of which is blocked. The machinery has been removed from the building.
