Description
Nos 3 and 5 on Bradley Road are two cottages built in the early 19th century, likely for the Earl Gower Company. They are constructed from red brick and rendered, featuring a plain-tile roof with brick stacks at the center and north end. The cottages are single storey with a single room depth and have eight small windows facing the road. The garden side has seven two-light casement windows, two of which are now boarded. There are two part-glazed doors and a small projecting extension on the northern cottage. Inside, the interconnecting rooms have plank doors, one with H-L hinges, and tile or brick floors. A partly filled-in grate is present on the northern gable wall. These cottages are a rare and complete example of the 'barracks' industrial housing provided by the Earl Gower (later the Lilleshall) Company in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, along with their wash-houses, privies, and stable/pigsty.
