Description

Egypt Mill is a building that dates from the 18th century and underwent early 19th-century rebuilding, incorporating significant portions of older structures, including what appears to be medieval masonry. The building is constructed of rubble with a Cotswold stone roof and is divided into two parts. The left section is two and a half or one and a half storeys high, featuring three gabled dormers and a total of five windows (two and three light casements) in partly blocked openings, with wooden lintels common to the right-hand three windows. There are also two single-light chamfered windows on the ground floor and a plain arch to the left of the centre. This part of the mill is accessed from road level through the gable.

The right section, likely built in the mid-19th century, has five windows with alternating two and three light segment-headed casements. There is an arched entry for water on the right side. The mill operates with two streams and two wheels, one of which, located to the east, predates 1820 and features wooden spokes; it was later adapted to drive a pit saw. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension with plain mullion windows. The west wall includes a spring head below the road and is said to incorporate 15th-century masonry.
