Description
This cottage, located immediately to the west of Egypt Mill, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is one and a half storeys tall and constructed from Cotswold stone rubble with a stone tile roof. The north side features an ashlar chimney. On the south gable, there is a two-light window with a chamfered mullion and a drip, along with a partly moulded doorway below it. The west front has a tall blocked gabled opening, while the north gable end has a part-blocked doorway that now contains a cast-iron Tudor arch casement window. The east front includes a gabled half-dormer and a three-light window. The interior is said to date from 1840 and features a circular kitchen that resembles the tower at South Woodchester. It is believed that a similar tower once stood on this site and was encased in the current cottage, with the kitchen retaining rounded sides.
