Description
The Railway Hotel is now a private house that dates back to the period when the railway branch line was established from 1864 to 1867. This building is designed in a late classical villa style and is constructed of ashlar stone with a moulded cornice along the coping. It features a hipped slate roof and has three sets of three windows with glazing bar sashes. The centre of the ground floor has an arched window that was originally a door, as indicated by the steps leading up to it. To the left of the ground floor, there is a bow with casement windows. A painted band above the first floor at the front and on the left-hand return bears the inscription "Railway Hotel." This building is depicted in a mid-19th century print of Nailsworth, which shows the area before the railway was built.
