Description
Cruck Cottage is a hall house dating from around the 16th century. It features cruck trusses, with a floor that was added later. The building is timber framed, retaining three pairs of crucks, with the end crucks exposed in the gable ends. It has a sandstone plinth and painted brick infill panels, topped with a thatched roof that has gable ends. The cottage is one storey with an attic, featuring three eyebrow dormers and a range of three windows. The windows are modern casements with leaded panes, and there is an off-centre plank door. A brick ridge stack is present. Inside, the central cruck has an arch-braced collar beam.
