Description
Cherrington Manor House is a fine timber-framed house dated 1635, featuring plastered brick infill panels. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three gabled bays, the center of which includes a projecting two-storey porch. The ground floor displays close-set studding, while the first floor has diagonal bracing and is jettied on a moulded bressumer with run-out stops and carved console brackets. The attic gables exhibit timber framing with lozenge patterns and are also jettied on a carved and moulded bressumer that bears the date 1635 and an inscription, supported by carved console brackets. The bargeboards, which include pendants, were added in the 19th century. The house features early 19th-century three- and two-light casements, and below the first-floor windows are carved arcaded panels. A modern oak door with a rectangular fanlight is present, and the roof is covered with plain tiles and has gabled ends. There are 19th-century additions at the rear and 19th-century brick chimney stacks. The house is traditionally known as "The House that Jack Built."
