Description
The Anstice Memorial Institute, dated 1868, was designed by John Johnson of London. It is a large building constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and a hipped tile roof, built in an Italianate style. The building has a prominent entablature with a heavy cornice, and is arranged with 1:5:1 bays. Brick pilasters are present on the left and right sides. Round-arched windows are set within pilastered round-arched recesses, each with panels beneath. The ground floor features flat-headed, two-light windows, and a stringcourse runs along the first floor. A large central porch is supported by square piers and topped with a heavy entablature.
