Description
No. 9 High Street is an early 19th-century house built from buff-coloured brick, positioned at right angles to the road. It features a slate hipped roof with a cornice and blocking course. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the centre bay recessed and the left and right bays bowed. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, panelled lintels, and a bend at the first-floor sill level. The central entrance has a panelled door and a porch supported by Tuscan columns with an entablature. On the left-hand return facing the road, there is a large late 19th-century shop front that includes a heavy entablature with a modillion cornice, wreaths in the frieze, and pairs of console brackets adorned with garlands and lions above.
