Description
The Davies memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 4 metres south of the south-west corner of the nave of the Church of St Mary in Leighton, dating from around 1815. It is made of sandstone and features a rectangular shape with a moulded plinth and a pedimented top ledger, along with fluted corner pilasters. The moulded inscription panel on the north side commemorates John Davies, who died in 1815, while the panel on the south side commemorates his 'relict', Sarah, who died in 1853. The tomb retains traces of paint and has raised oval inscription panels at each end that are left blank.
