Description
The Bright Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 2 meters south of the nave of the Church of St John in Clun, constructed in the early to mid-19th century by J Davies of Clun. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a cavetto-moulded plinth, sunken side panels with flanking fluted pilasters, shaped quarter corner balusters, and a moulded cornice. The memorial is dedicated to Ann Bright, daughter of Richard and Jane Bright of Whitcott Hall, who died on 11 February 1855. This tomb is a notable example of a style unique to the area, showcasing a well-executed inscription with decorative flourishes and various scripts.
