Barn with shelter shed and outbuildings. c1771-1791. Red brick in flemish bond with hipped slate roof to barn, gabled old plain-tile roof to shelter shed and lean-to outbuilding to linking outbuilding. L-plan; barn linked by L-shaped wall with lean-to outbuilding to shelter shed. EXTERIOR: barn has central segmental-arched entry to threshing floor and, to right, segmental-arched doorway and windows to cowhouse and loft floors (probably granary); cross-shaped ventilation holes; dentilled brick eaves; similar threshing-floor doorway to rear. Weatherboarded front and through-entry to lean-to outbuilding to left. 7-bay open-fronted shelter shed with round brick piers to wall plate; brick manger. INTERIOR: barn with 5-bay, double trenched-purlin roof with 4 king-post trusses. Shelter shed: 7-bay, single trenched-purlin roof with 6 queen-post trusses. Known as Johnathon Green's Barn after the Lord of the Manor of Ashford Hall for whom it was built.
