Description
This former cottage, now a pigsty, is located approximately 20 meters to the west of No. 39 Venusbank. It dates from the late 17th century, with the eaves raised, likely in the early 18th century. The building is timber-framed with painted brick nogging and features a plain tile roof. It consists of two framed bays and is one storey high with a gable-lit attic. There is an integral brick end stack on the left side.
The framing includes square panels, with three extending from the sole-plate to the wall-plate. There is a two-leaf boarded door positioned off-center to the left, along with boarded loft and ground-floor doors located in the right-hand gable end. The right-hand gable end also features a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts.
Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have chamfered beams and plain joists. The eaves were raised by one square panel, likely in the early 18th century, and the timber frame displays scotches.
