Description
Yeaton Lodge is a house built in 1815, constructed from limewashed red brick with a hipped slate roof, designed in an L-plan. The building stands three storeys high and features deep eaves. It has a pair of brick ridge stacks and a pair of external brick lateral stacks on the rear wing, along with an additional brick ridge stack and an external brick end stack at the rear.
The façade consists of three bays, with glazing bar sashes that have segmental heads and stone cills. The central entrance features a small-paned half-glazed door with two lower panels, surrounded by panelled reveals and soffit. The doorcase is rendered and includes pilasters with incised Greek key ornament, a frieze, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course topped with a raised pedimented block. Access to the door is via three stone steps.
On the left-hand return front, there is a full-height bow with a curved 16-pane glazing bar sash on the second floor, and tripartite glazing bar sashes on the ground and first floors, also featuring Greek key ornament on the wooden mullions. The rear wing, which faces the garden, has three bays with glazing bar sashes that have segmental heads and stone cills, along with tripartite glazing bar sashes on the ground floor. The central door on this side is a small-paned half-glazed door with moulded architrave, frieze, and shaped brackets that support a cornice. There is a one-storey glazed verandah as well.
While the interior has not been inspected, the staircase is noted to be an L-plan with two flights, a half-landing, an open string, turned balusters (two per tread), a swept handrail, and a wreathed newel.
