Description
29 and 30 Claremont Hill, dated 1718, is a building that was formerly known as No. 30 Claremont Hill and includes No. 1 Barker Street. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped plain tiled roof. The building has three storeys and a three-window range, with an inserted shop front. Above the shop front, there are 12-pane sash windows that have flat-arched brick heads and moulded stone sills. The eaves cornice is moulded with modillions, and there are stone quoins and a string course above the first-floor windows. The elevation facing Barker Street was rebuilt in 1936 and has a two-window range that is similarly detailed to the Claremont Hill elevation. There are two date stones on the building: one from 1718 with the initials P over TM, and another from 1936 with the initials L over HS. No. 1 Barker Street was listed on September 19, 1972.
